VANDERMEULEN – John VanderMeulen, age 66, of Grand Rapids went peacefully into the arms of Jesus with his family at his side on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. John is preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Angeline VanderMeulen. He is survived by his daughter, Danielle (Tom); granddaughter, Hailey Carter; mother of his child, Deborah Schmidt; brothers and sister, Wendell “Alan” (Sharon) VanderMeulen, Mary (John) Windemuller, Richard (Michelle) VanderMeulen; and many nieces and nephews. John proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He had a love for animals and the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite times were with friends and family at the family lake property. John treasured his daughter and granddaughter above all. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Sunday, May 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of John's life will be on Monday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior, at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe NE Grand Rapids, Michigan with Chaplain Bob Dennis as celebrant and under the Auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. A luncheon will be provided at the Beuschel Funeral Home following the Burial Service.
