Obituary for Rita "Nan" Franklin

Rita "Nan"  Franklin
FRANKLIN – Rita (“Nan”) Franklin, age 61, of Comstock Park, unexpectedly passed away and is at peace on Sunday, March 4, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lillian Franklin; brother-in-law, William Halcomb Jr., and good friend Mark Spanogle. Nan is survived by her beloved sisters, Mary Ellen (Pat) Kimble and Char Franklin; niece, Tiffany Kimble; nephews, Heath (Noelle) Kimble and Corey (Alyssa) Kimble; and her loving great-nieces and great-nephews. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Master's degree in Business Administration. Nan was employed with the State of Michigan, as an Administrative Assistant for the Warden at the Dunes State Prison and later transferred to the Treasury Department in Collections. She had a natural talent for art, drawing and painting animals and landscapes. She especially loved painting oriental art. The family will greet family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. A Service celebrating Nan's life will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Phil Friedrick as celebrant, from Sparta United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be held in Blythefield Memorial Gardens at a later date. In memory of Nan, please consider a donation to Kendall College of Art and Design Youth Arts Programs.
