Martin Roberts
ROBERTS – Martin “Marty” A. Roberts, age 82, of Rockford, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Marty is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marlene (Lemieux) Roberts; beloved children, Michael Roberts, Michele (Brian) Feringa, Jill (Jim) Wiers, Katie Miller, Bobby Roberts, Renee (Keith) Bainbridge, Mary (David) Sawinski; 20 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren (a.k.a. Grandpa Tootsie Roll); sisters, Maryanne Host, Betty Norman; brother, Paul (Rosie) Roberts; nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lydia Roberts; sister, Nancy Roberts; daughter, Helen Runyon; granddaughter, Alicia Wiers; great-grandson, Jeffery Weersma; brothers-in-law, Bill Host and Ed Norman. Marty proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years. He was an avid bowler and umpired for the greater Grand Rapids Area for eons. Marty was a long time member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. The family will meet family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m, with the Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m., with Deacon Jerry Roersma. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Father Anthony Russo officiating, with visitation one hour prior at the church. In memory of Martin, please consider donations to American Cancer Society (Roamin Catholics Relay for Life Rockford) or Our Lady of Consolation Education Foundation Fund.
